RentBetter is growing! We’re really excited to welcome our new Chief Technology Officer, Paul Ferrett onboard.

Paul first began working with RentBetter 6 months ago in a Technology Advisor capacity, collaborating with CEO, Jeremy Goldschmidt on projects. Paul got to know Jeremy and the business over this time and was excited by the endless opportunities in the PropTech space in Australia. Paul joins the team from Catch.com.au (...what a catch!) and we recently sat down with him to chat about why he chose RentBetter and what excites him about joining the company.

Why did you choose RentBetter and what excited you about the opportunity?

‍

I’ve rented properties for most of my adult life so I definitely know that the rental experience is far from ideal, so while I don’t have any existing PropTech experience, I understand the experience and pain points and challenges of property rentals. Working with Jeremy I was exposed to how things work in the industry and I can feel that it’s ready for a revolution.

There are lots of improvements to be made in terms of the way people find and manage properties in Australia and I was excited to join the team to help accelerate this change and make it happen. RentBetter is a disrupter in the space and has come a long way over the past year as I’ve been watching from the sidelines. I also love that I've been able to get back into the startup space! The business is very agile and fast-paced and I’m really enjoying being hands-on with the tech and RentBetter has given me the opportunity to do that.

Why did you choose tech as your career?

‍

I’ve worked professionally in tech for over 14 years, and in programming for at least ten years before that! I love building things and the fact that you can solve infinite problems with nothing but an idea and a computer is just brilliant.

What is the most exciting part of your job?

‍

Definitely getting ready to scale up the size of the team to be able to deliver more things faster. It’s so impressive what Jeremy has done with a small team and I’m super excited thinking about what else we can do for tenants and property owners with more people to deliver products and features.I love empowering and enabling the team, working with them to build things that make the lives of customers easier.

What motivates you in life and work?

‍

I enjoy solving real problems with smart solutions. I’m drawn to real-world problems and just making things easier for people. By automating the boring parts of life we can all have more time back in the day for more fun things.

It’s safe to say that the team is thrilled to have Paul join the RentBetter family. We’re excited to be further developing the platform to give property owners even more control over their investments through innovative technology solutions.
