RentBetter regards customer privacy as an important part of our relationship with our customers. The following privacy policy applies to all RentBetter users, and conforms to Internet privacy standards.

Collection of Information

In order to use the RentBetter website, we may require information from you in order to provide the best service possible.

All correspondence may also be collected and stored, particularly in regard to sales, support and accounts, including Email.

Any information collected by RentBetter is collected via correspondence from you or your company. This may be via the telephone, Email, mail, fax or directly through our website.

Use of Collected Information

Any details collected from RentBetter customers is required in order to provide you with our products and/or services, and a high level of customer service.

Correspondence is recorded in order to provide service references, and to assist in our staff development.

Storage of Collected Information

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card numbers) on our website, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). When Credit Card details are collected, we simply pass them on in order to be processed as required. We never permanently store complete Credit Card details.

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.

Access to Collected Information

If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may correct, update, delete or deactivate it by emailing us at RentBetter.com.au.

Orders

If you purchase a product or service from us, we may request certain personally identifiable information from you. You may be required to provide contact information (such as name, Email, and postal address as well as the details of your property) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date).

We use this information for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you.

Communications

RentBetter uses personally identifiable information for essential communications, such as Emails, accounts information, and critical service details. We may also use this information for other purposes, including some promotional Emails. If at any time a customer wishes not to receive such correspondence, they can request to be removed from any mailing lists by emailing us at info@rentbetter.com.au.

You will be notified when your personal information is collected by any third party that is not our agent/service provider, so you can make an informed choice as to whether or not to share your information with that party.

Third Parties

RentBetter may at its discretion use other third parties to provide essential services on our site or for our business processes. We may share your details as necessary for the third party to provide that service e.g. to publish property ads on the major property portals, or to run tenant checks.

These third parties are prohibited from using your personally identifiable information for any other purpose.

RentBetter does not share any information with third parties for any unknown or unrelated uses.

Legal

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our Website.

Links on the RentBetter site to external entities are not covered within this policy. The terms and conditions set out in this privacy statement only cover the domain name of RentBetter.com.au.

Changes to Privacy Policy

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We reserve the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it frequently. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by Email, or by means of a notice on our homepage.

RentBetter Security Policy

RentBetter uses the Stripe Payment Gateway for its online credit card transactions. Stripe processes online credit card transactions for thousands of Australian merchants, providing a safe and secure means of collecting payments via the Internet. All online credit card transactions performed on this site using the Stripe gateway are secured payments.

RentBetter Terms and Conditions

Digital Delivery

After ordering online, you will receive an email confirmation from Stripe containing your order details (if you have provided your email address). We will normally confirm receipt of your order within a few minutes of ordering. We will attempt to confirm your ad via email within one working day.

Refund & Returns Policy

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase we will give you a 3 day money-back guarantee from the time you post your ad. Please email us at info@rentbetter.com.au within that time if you are not satisfied with your purchase so that we can resolve any problems.  This refund policy does not apply to ads which have been published as expected, received enquiries and applications, or for which a tenant has been signed even if the tenant was secured using another service or agent.

RentBetter Terms of Service

Introduction

Please read these Terms carefully. By signing up for an account and using our service, you agree to the following Terms. This is a legal agreement

Sign up for an Account

To become a RentBetter customer and use our services for the rent or sale of residential or commercial property you must:

  1. be the owner of the property who is legally entitled to do so
  2. be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  3. be authorised by the owner of the property
  4. sign up, agree to these terms and conditions and provide accurate up to date contact information

By using our services you must agree and meet the requirements listed above and not violate any laws or regulations. RentBetter may change requirements at any time.

Term

There is no minimum term to use RentBetter, when you sign up to use our service, that is when the term begins. The term continues for as long as you use the service (Terminate your account). By clicking the ‘Create Ad Now’ button after entering your user details when signing up, and ticking the box to agree with the terms and conditions, means you have officially ‘signed’ and agree to these terms. If you sign up for RentBetter on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.

Termination

You or RentBetter may choose to terminate your account. RentBetter may terminate or suspend your account at any time, with or without written notice, to use or access any part of RentBetter.

 

Service Payments

Introduction

When you sign up for an account and complete your payment, you are deemed to be a RentBetter customer. The price charged is listed on the home page, as well as on the ‘my properties’ page of the website which include Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Property advertisement

You may sign up to our service to post your property advertisement to third party property portals until leased or sold, at the price posted on the pricing page of our website which may change from time to time and which includes ‘Goods and Services Tax’ (GST). You agree to give RentBetter the authority to advertise your property for rent or sale on your behalf to the nominated third party property portals.

Until leased or sold means you can effectively have your property advertisement posted on the third party property portals for as long as it takes to find tenants or a buyer. The RentBetter Team will work closely with you to ensure that your ads ae removed in a timely manner once a tenant or buyer has been secured.

Publishing Property advertisement

All property advertisements submitted to be published to our site or any third party property portal will be approved by our team before being published. If the property advertisement does not abide by these terms we will disapprove the property advertisement and your advertisement will not be published. You will be notified to make necessary changes before the property advertisement is published. If you fail to make the necessary changes your account may be suspended or terminated. You will also be notified if your ads have been running for an extended period of time. Typically after 12 months an ad will be reviewed and further charges may apply.

Every effort is made to publish property advertisement to third party property portals within four business hours, however property advertisements may be published beyond the four hour period depending on the time taken to process your advertisement when submitted to third party property portals, system outages, technical issues, security involved, or for the interest of customer service. Property advertisements may be displayed on the third party property portals earlier depending on the processing times.

 

RentBetter Rights, Rules and Authority to Act

Rights

You shall respect our proprietary rights in the Websites and the software used to provide any of our Services (proprietary rights include patents, trademarks, service marks, and copyrights). You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Services or included software, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of that software, unless laws prohibit those restrictions or you have our written permission.

Rules

If you violate any of these rules then we may suspend or terminate your account.

  • Compliance with Residential Tenancy Act: When using RentBetter to rent your residential rental property we expect you to abide by the Residential Tenancy Act or Regulations applicable to the State or Territory where your rental property is located. If we have reason to suspect that you are not abiding by these laws we may suspend or terminate your account.
  • Compliance with Selling of Residential Property in your state: When using RentBetter to rent your property we expect you to abide by the laws governing the sale or rental of residential property in the state your property is located. If we have reason to suspect that you are not abiding by these laws we may suspend or terminate your account.

Information on our service or provided by our Team should not be regarded as a substitute for professional legal, financial, commercial or professional advice of any kind. You should seek independent legal advice. No warranty is made as to the accuracy of information provided by the RentBetter Team. Whilst we make every reasonable endeavour to achieve accuracy and reliability in the information provided on the website and in associated publications including resource documents.

Authority to Act

These Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy (all of which are incorporated into these Terms by reference), and any Additional Terms you’ve agreed to make up the entire agreement and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings and provide authority to undertake the actions necessary to provide the relevant services related to your property e.g. advertising a property, obtaining references, entering into and signing tenancy agreements, collecting rental payments, receiving and disbursing rental bond money.

RentBetter Acceptable Use Policy

The actions users take can have an impact on our service and other users of the service. Users must follow this Acceptable Use Policy, if you violate it we may suspend or terminate your account.

  • Advertising anything other than a Property for Rent or Sale
  • Incorrect Descriptions of a Property Advertisement
  • Incorrect or Misuse of Photos for Property Advertisements
  • Displaying a photo, drawing or other image that is not a photograph, drawing or image of the property being offered for rent.
  • Giving a False Address of the Property
  • Upload, Post, Transmit Unacceptable Material
